The Almond Philosophy

BFG has a palm tree concept that speaks of resilience. Even when hit with a strong wind, the Palm Tree does not easily break. At some point, it appears to have fallen on the ground, but with time, it begins to rise again and, more interestingly, stronger than it was before. In the newness, it is able to withstand the previous wind if it does blow again. The same goes for victims of disaster; given the right environment and conditions, the victims of disaster can bounce back stronger and thrive yet again to an even better fit within society.

We live in a vulnerable world where disasters are inevitable. In our everyday life, to a certain extent, we are all exposed to disaster risk. The degree of exposure determines the severity of the impact when the disaster hits.

Beyond addressing the immediate needs in the face of a disaster, BFG is more structured to explore the underlying root causes of disaster among the vulnerable populations. This posture is ultimately geared towards enhancing resilience, maintaining minimal levels of exposure to disaster risk and potentially breaking the disaster cycle among the vulnerable populations.
